Carbures moves forward with Civil Works

In Carbures we continue innovating. The company counts with a new product made up on composite mesh used as armours for cement structures.

The first order we have sent includes the renovation of the rail and the infrastructure refurbishment of Alicante´s line´s 9 tramway in the stretch between Altea and Calpe. It was assembled on Tecnobahia´s plant, in Puerto de Santa María.

The replacement of the traditional steel rods from the armours by GFRP (Glas Fiber Reinforced Polymers) involve significant improvements in construction.

Armours on fibre mesh suffer deterioration with rust and they are thermal and electric conductor. Therefore, composites doesn’t enable electric passage and its low conductivity allows its grounding less expensive than metallic materials.

We want to highlight the easiness on armours installation and transport on GFRP, due to its light weight (one-third the weight of steel). Thanks to reduced light weight, higher resistance is managed enabling installation on hard-to-access works and using reduced logistic tools. This reduces labor costs and mechanic tools.

High resistance against corrosion makes this material suitable for works at ports and aggressive environments (coast areas).

In this work, we have used a 12-milimeter diameter fibre mesh, with a distance of 15 by 15 centimetres, that reaches a total dimension of 2,4 by 6 metres.
