Carbures, the only spanish company working at DACOMAT

Horizon 2020

As we announced a few days ago, Carbures is taking part at Dacomat project –part of EU’s Horizon 2020–, which focuses on the development of structures in composites with a budget of 5.8 million euros. Carbures, the only Spanish Company in this project, is a leader in the manufacturing of composites and is recognized internationally due to its technological prestige.

By using its know-how, Carbures is working at a consortium together with several institutions that are leaders in their areas, such as Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and other standing European institutions: companies (like Hexcel Composites, FireCo and LM Wind Power), universities and research centres. Those which take part at this project come from Norway, Denmark, United Kingdom and Belgium. The most important about this awarding is Carbures is well-known internationally, as the Company is the industrial partner for this consortium.

Dacomat was selected by the EU among 81 projects and focuses on infrastructures –bridges, roads and energy production tools-, which suffer from heavy weights and aggressive environmental conditions during their service life. Material failures result in inactivity, with negative effects on productivity and comfort in terms of time and money, what is well-known by Carbures, since the Company applies its technological knowledge to manufacturing.

Carbures has spent long time studying and applying composites in the civil works sector, what results in its experience and know-how from works like the extension of a seaport at Fuerteventura (the Canary Islands) or the brand-new roof at Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid. Composites are more and more used for all these applications, thanks to their low weight, their high resistance and rigidity, as well as their extended environmental stability. All this knowledge will be applied by Carbures to Dacomat, an international cutting-edge project.
