THE PRINCE VISITS CARBURES, WHICH PRODUCES CARBON FIBER STRUCTURES FOR AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY.

His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias has visites today the facilities of CARBURES in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz-Spain), where he has been reported about CARBURES activity in the automotive industry with the release of a self-made technological development which allows the production of composites pieces, such as carbon fiber for cars.

After presiding in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz-Spain) the opening of the XVI  National Congress of Family Business, his Royal Highness Felipe de Borbón was headed to the company´s facilities, being accompanied, among others authorities, by the President of the Andalusian Government Institution, Susana Díaz, and the mayor of Jerez de la Frontera, María José García Pelayo.

Members of CARBURES Board of Directors have explained him that CARBURES is finishing the set up of a production plant for the automotive industry in El Burgo de Osma (Soria-Spain), which will be operating before the end of the year.

According the official statement of CARBURES, to the current backlog granted linked to the aeronautics industry, it has to be added the forecast for the second half of the current season of having revenues mainly coming from the automotive industry, which activity will experiment an annual growth increase of 204,9 percent between 2013 and 2016, with a sales forecast of 31,8 million euros in 2016. These figures show, according CARBURES, ¨a larger growth for the next two years, 2016-2018, a period in which the company foresees projects valued in 200 million dollars¨.

Lineal Production

From CARBURES he has been explained the ¨industrial know-how¨ and the own technology which positions the company as ¨the only one in Europe capable of applying the lineal production process to the aircraft structures production, and, from now, for cars by using composites such as carbon fiber¨. In this way, the group has made and investment of two million euros in R&D activities in the last year for the development of an own patent called RMCP (Rapid Multi-injection Compress Proccess), ¨a complex multi-injection press with shortens the lineal production process of composites which gives more competitiveness in comparison with the traditional production processes using metals¨.

As stated by the CEO of the company, Rafael Contreras, CARBURES  taps into automotive sector with a production system for carbon fiber pieces which ¨revolutionizes¨the whole sector because ¨it allows to popularize the production of  much more efficient cars, which diminish their weigh, their consumption and their pollution levels¨, because carbon fiber is 4,5 times lighter and up to three times more resistant and flexible than steel¨.

We have to remind that CARBURES is a company which was born from a collaboration between the University of Cádiz and Airbus, and nowadays, it has more than a decade of experience as technological industrial company, pioneer in the lineal production of composites structures, such as carbon fiber, with active presence in three continets and seven plants with a total staff of 500 people.

In the aeronautics sector, CARBURES produces using carbon fiber from structural elements for aircrafts, either for defense or commercial uses, as is the case of the cab chassis beams, the belly or the tail of the plane, to smaller ones such as caps from the mouths of refueling.

 Meeting of Business Owners

Aditionally, Royal Highness Felipe de Borbón has maintained a work meeting with the members of the Confederation of Business of the province of Cádiz (CEC), presided by Javier Sánchez Rojas, which has gathered significant businessman of the main economic sectors of the province of Cádiz.
