Pemex renews its trust in Carbures

Mexican oil giant Pemex has extended the original two-year contract signed in 2015 with Carbures in another seven months for the construction of composite structures and ducts for oil platforms. This extension of the contract, whose completion has now been set for December 2018, represents an additional billing of 83 million pesos (3.5 million euros) for the technological company this year. Carbures channels this extension of the contract with Pemex through its subsidiary in Mexico, and the engineering tasks are limited to the terrestrial and marine oil assets that the Mexican oil company has in the North and South regions of Mexico.

The contract is extended from the month of June and will last for seven months with an aggregate total amount of 250 million pesos (10 million euros). The relevance of the extension of this contract is that Carbures CW consolidates as one of PEMEX's benchmarks in the provision of complex engineering services. Moreover, in the engineering and construction of composite material civil structures field, Carbures developed composite material pillars for large vessels docking for Acciona Infraestructuras. It was a pioneer model of maritime work worldwide, whose potential for composite materials is enormous and which already operate at full capacity in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura.

"The extension of this contract is a clear reflection of the trust and good work that we have been doing since Pemex decided to start working with Carbures", explains Carbures President, Rafael Contreras.

Carbures presents the new robot: AIRUNION

In Carbures,we have spent years investing in innovation and technological developments of our own. This is the business strategy that we have followed since our foundation and that has allowed us to grow as a company and diversify our business through our own technology. This positions us as a 4.0 Industry reference in those sectors in which we operate. A new robotic project that comes to join that line in our aeronautical area has been the AIRUNION. It has been the 2015 call of the Innterconecta Technological Fund (European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which was composed by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), in a consortium formed together with Airbus Operations, Titania, Sertec Engineering and our division of Aerospace & Global Defense.

The project set a series of goals that the robot needed to meet; minimization of industrial costs, structures weight reduction and greater customer satisfaction due to an improvement in the reliability and availability of fast on-site repairs. For the development of the AIRUNION robot, an automated system has been used for surface preparation prior to repairs in composite-composite joints of commercial aircraft structures.
